  • TurboTax Discounts

My credit union offers a 15% discount at TurboTax, but last year I know Schwab had an even better deal. I'm just curious what discounts folks are getting this year and where.

    Thanks!

Vanguard offers a discount... I think it's 10% or something along those lines. After all was said and done, I paid about 27 bucks to turbotax to get mine done. I am happy with that price, but what I gained most from this years tax season is that I need to increase my W4 withholding so I can get it back during the year rather than now. Thanks to forums like these, of course

I used a 35% discount from Capital One and there's also a 30% discount from Scottrade.

If your income is low enough (AGI below $57k), the IRS' Free File program is actually a great deal. I'm using it this year, specifically using H&R Block's online software. Doesn't seem to have any significant limits on the complexity of the return (I'm itemizing, and have investment gains, education credits, etc.), though my return may not be the most complicated to truly test it out with. In any case, I'm actually quite impressed with it, so if you're good on the income limit, I'd recommend it to anyone. 100% off.

State Farm customers with online account access can use online Turbo Tax free (up to Deluxe, Premier is $20). You can efile a federal and state return. I have done this for four years - very nice perk.

T Rowe Price offers a 20% discount. We have our Roth IRA's through them so the discount is an added bonus every year.

What I do is go to each of these different websites (Vanguard, Scottrade, BoA, etc) and click on the TurboTax link on each of these websites. Then login into TurboTax from that link and you can see exactly how much you will pay with whatever discount that Company gives. I've used Vanguard the last couple of years, I'm not sure what the discount is exactly, but it's been the least expensive for me.
