  • Simple IRA

I wasn't given a lot of notice, its sounded like I only have a few days to decide if I would like to contribute to a 5304 simple with 3% match. With the Federal debt and them supposedly running out of money on the 18th, would it hurt and wait and maybe sign on the the plan next year?

My employers are all about making money the easy way...money for nothing.. I would rather invest it into somthing other than just U.S. currency.

If the US Gov runs out of money, it doesn't really matter where you invest does it?

Who's backing the FDIC at your banks?
Who guarantees the payment of the currency in your wallet?

If they go under we're all screwed, so ignore that possibility.

Umm... they're giving you free money for nothing. I'm not sure what you are mad about. You save 3% for your retirement, your company gives you 3% for free.

And a SIMPLE IRA doesn't have to be solely invested in US Gov securities. You have other investment options (mutual funds, stocks, bonds, etc.)
