As long as you've got 0% APR and plan to pay off the debt before the promo period ends, you're golden.

I agree that as long as you can pay if off in the 12-month time frame, it is not necessarily bad. Still, because it can go wrong, I tend to steer away from credit. I do not personally use ANY credit cards. Hate them, because they lure people in with low rates, and then go on to charge outrageous amounts if you cannot pay your balance in full each month after the introductory period.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over this too much Radiance. Furniture is a one time expense. Now if there is anything you should be worried about it is that feeling of "instant gratification" you were seeking. That sort of mentality gets a lot of consumers into big trouble with impulse buying. I don't think you are at too much risk since it says a lot that you are willing to admit that that is what you got and again these are one time expenses so it's not too ominous of a sign for you.

That is exactly what I am facingdepends where I am people are asking a fortune for used furniture and they don't deliver.
Unless Im doing something wrong.
I was thinking about my bedroom, I just tried craigslist one more time.
The southest I found any furniture at a decent price was Orlando!. Nothing on Broward county.
I'm telling you, people around here (Broward and dade counties. Ft. Lauderdale, Miami) they want almost full price for their furniture or prefer to donate and get tax breaks, most charities will give you a blank receipt so they enter whatever they want.
Now, for my bedroom, I became creative, instead of dresser I bought some nice chests on sale, and they are super cute, who needs a dresser? $12 each chest. And I built my own bookcase with bricks and wood board. $56. Now I need an idea for a nightstand. I saw one idea made with cardboard, but It was a little complicated to do.
I might spend a little more later buysing some apliques and other decorations for the "furniture" but that I can do overtime.

I can see where you're coming from because at the end of the day you need to feel that your home is your home and little comforts make it easier. Juat make sure that you dont fall behind on payments and that you manage your money because my sister fell behind and as you can imagine it wasn't good.Originally posted by Radiance View PostI moved with pretty much a suitcase, a TV and a bed
The plan was to save money to start buying furniture and other homegoodies
I bought some stuff with cash, such a pots, pans, towels, etc.
But the empty apt (renting) was driving me nuts.
After 3 months I coudnt take it anymore, I allowed myself to buy $1300 of furniture on credit. I will pay in 12 months, no interest. This covered the living room and office furniture.
Now I can seat somewhere to read a book or watch some TV. I really needed it...ok, I wanted it. But it was a pressing emotional need, so I allowed myself to do it.
So, I will hold off and send my 12 payments. Next year I will buy some furniture for my bedroom which currently only has a bed.
Is this really that bad? I know it was instant gratification and I bought with somebody elses money and betting on being able to pay for the next 12 months. But I feel I realy needed to allow me to do this, although my tummy is unconfortable with having falling into debt again.
