Hey guys i hate to ask this question but my grandfather decided to put me in his life insurance policy and i never knew it. He passed away 2 months ago and i just got a statement of the account with no indication of how to actually get the money. Normally i wouldn't be so hurried but my wife is about to give birth any day now and we could use the little bit of money for the overlap in time she doesn't get paid while shes out of work. Anyway if anyone of you guys know anything about life insurance let me know. Obviously i don't expect to get a check tomorrow or anything i just dont understand what to do at this point. Thanks guys.

If you have the statement, call the insurance company with the policy number, and they should tell you how to file the claim.
If there is no phone number on the statement, you should be able to find the information on the Internet.
If you have problems finding the proper phone number, post the name of the company, NOT the policy number, and I will see what I can find for you.
You may need a copy of your grandfather's death certificate. Congratulations on the forthcoming birth of your child. -

Make sure the life insurance company has received a notice of the claim and a death certificate. Without those items, the process may be held up...Comment
