    I am curious to know how other people think, I am interested any suggestions would be helpful.

    I would not invest in gold directly. The cost to protect it, insure it and trade it isn't worth it to me. Plus gold has had a good run recently -- it's growth potential is pretty limited, IMO.

    As far as owning gold stocks/funds, having a little bit of money in them can't hurt. But then again I believe in investing in a wide variety of stocks and bonds.

      Historically, gold as proven to be a lousy long-term investment, compared to other things.

        If you have interest in owning gold consider buying the ETF NYSE: GLD which trades at 1/10th of the price of the quoted commodity. My personal opinion is I think we are in a secular long term commodity bull market but per se of owning gold it is not my favorite metal. I like the metal titanium much better.

        It also is a coincidence that gold started to make the move higher just when the US decided it will no longer publish M3 money supply data.
