  • Free IPOD Shuffle and a good rate to boot

I just finished opening up a money market account w/ Netbank, as part of this offer.

A few things to be aware of:
    • Minimum deposit is $1000
    • $25 fee for closing the account w/in 6 months
    • $7.50 unavoidable fee for closing the account
    • 3.36% rate only if you open a linked checking, 2~% if not
    • $3 charge per paper statement - go electronic
    • Value of Shuffle may be on your 1099, and taxed as ordinary income

I deposited $1,001, will close the account on my wife's birthday in July (easy to remember, plus I think I'll give her the shuffle for her birthday), calculated the difference in rates with that $7.50 charge, you still beat it w/ interest, although barely (after 6 months), opted for electronic delivery of statements.

Yes, it looks like ipod free give-aways are the big thing with banks these days:

I'm sure there will be more to come...
