jpg7n16, very interesting point regarding the state tax advantages. I hadn't even considered that!! Perhaps I should take another look at the 529 to weigh the state tax advantages over any penalty that could be assessed down the road. My hopes are he will go to college, and I would certainly always encourage that, but, it's hard to know these things 8 years before they happen! :-)
You know, I didn't realize my 401 was so aggressive. I thought I had about an 85 / 15 split. Didn't realize it was 95 / 5 !! I had set up those selections years ago, and have never changed them. I should probably take a look at that as well.
