You can get a DVD player for around $20 & then a monthly subscription to netflix for $10.

Or donate it to a charity to raffle off, or to a friend/family member in need of a tv.

Great quote, I've never heard that one before.

To the OP - I would try and sell it. This happened to me a week ago. I won a Nintendo DSi at a college basketball game during the 8 minute media timeout. I went to the foul line and had the option to choose one of three gift boxes. I choose the middle, which was the DSi. By the way, anyone looking for a Nintendo DSi, I got a brand new one for sale.

In order for me to get any use out of this TV, I'll need to (at the least) buy a DVD player of some sort, or get a PS3/XBox/etc., or get cable, or something along similar lines (btw, there's no "bunny ears" programming available here that isn't in Japanese). Until I do that, it's going to sit unused in the box! I'm very grateful and appreciative for having won the TV, but in order to enjoy it requires me to spend almost as much on other stuff as the TV cost itself!
This can be true, I mentioned above about winning a Nintendo DSi. The thought has cross my mind to go buy some sports games and enjoy playing them, but I suddenly remembered I wasn't playing any systems to begin with.
