DH and I want to move to a new city about 7 hours away. The new city is much more affordable (as well as more family friendly) so it will be the best decision for us, if we can make it work! First DH has to find a job, but there seems to be plenty of postings in his field in this new area, so that is promising. But how do we handle it if he is offered something? Most likely the new company would not pay for moving expenses so we would be handling this on our own.
This is what I was thinking could be possible options:
1) DH go ahead without us (me and 3 tiny kids) and stay in a hotel until our house sells. This is probably the most financially responsible option but DH would miss us to pieces.
2) The whole family go ahead to the new city and rent an apartment for the first year while we learn the new area and wait for our house to sell back home. We could put most of our stuff in storage if it doesn't fit in the apt.
Any other suggestions? Or advice?
Thanks so much!
