Hi, I am a 19 Year old freshman college student at Seton hill, and need advice on what I should do about my living situation. I really want to move out of my house and I am looking for a job, but I do not know where yet. I'm living in Monroeville, PA, however commute 30 minutes away to college. I want to move out of my house and I am looking for a cheap and reasonable apartment. I have looked in Latrobe, Greensburg, Trafford, and Jeanette, but can't find what I am looking for. I am looking for a place somewhere around 250 at most for two bedrooms and fit two beds in each and split it with 3 other people, 4 ways, without utilities. I do not want a set of apartment homes such as cedar ridge apartment homes, but rather just a regular apartment; which is hard to find online. Average jobs for college students range around 7.25 but would like to make 9 dollars an hour, 10 hours a day, and 3 days a week so I can roughly score 1,000 a month without it interfering with my ridiculous school schedule. Well it gets more difficult because my life dream is to become a death metal drummer in a band and cannot leave my drum set, and that's why I commute, so I would need an apartment that allows a big drum set. I have so many issues in front of me I seem to be pretty stuck, and I need advice at where my first step should be. My initial plan was to stay in college, during get a really good job with a lot of hours, mostly on weekends. I'd then save up for a 5,000 car, preferably a Honda Civic because of their reliability, put 2,000 in savings, for repairs, then work on affording an apartment after that. I have strong ambition for my goals and will not give up, however I'm dyer need of assistance, Any ideas guys?

couldn't you live cheaper on campus, and then just try to rent out some old warehouse space or something to jam out in? or maybe... if you are in a band, you could store your kit at someone's house and pay them a monthly fee for helping you out?
others will help out too if you post a detailed description of all of your expected expenses and income. It's easier to help when all the cards are out on the table.

How generous of your family to give you room, board and some level of financial support which allows transport for a 30 minute commute. 1st get a PT job and save up first & last month's rent + damage deposit. Continue savings as utilities often demand a deposit from newbies. Third save up an Emergency Fund as life 'happens' to everyone. The next saving stream could pay for your Civic & insurance. Meanwhile see what service you could provide to your family for their generosity.

Seems to me that what you seek as far as room, may be a bit of asking too much outside of a campus situation.
As far as I know, most people (at least this side of the US) seeking to rent a room, usually want a room as their own private space. And most of these rooms (at least this side of the US) are not large enough to fit two beds side by side at that rate of $250 per person. Bunk beds may be doable, but I'd not want to rent a single room at any price with someone else in my space (unless I already knew that person and trusted them -- which it does not sound like you are into "trust" at least by your second posting above).
As far as a job that pays what you seek, I'm afraid that you may be in dire need of yet another imagined thing that does not exist in today's reality for college students in your area. You don't "score" a salary, or a job that is designed to your hours, unless you create that job for yourself.
Your first step would be to get a set of more realistic goals and stop dreaming and creating conflicts in your life.
Until you finish education, everything else should be secondary to that one goal of getting a real handle on your future (which I hope has nothing to do with the "noise" that you will generate and the rather "fun" time you might have trying to keep other people interested in rooming with you
)
LOL -- Snafu's answer is probably a bit more realistic than mine... but I can hardly believe that this post is serious.

One thing you can do is to search ads such as craigslist and see if there are any musicians with a house looking for roommates. They usually seek other musicians as roommates because most musicians dont mind the allnight jam sessions. Also, if you join an agency or an established gigging band, that can can help supplement your income as well as satisfy your music aspirations.Originally posted by callmevince567 View PostHi, I am a 19 Year old freshman college student at Seton hill, and need advice on what I should do about my living situation.
