  • Perk Street 2% Rebate Checking

Has anyone used this program? I read about it in the NYT today, and it seems like a good deal for those who prefer debit cards to credit cards. I wrote up a review, but I'm interested to hear from any actual users about their experience.

    Thanks!

Yes, I've used that program for a few months. I've even made several blog posts about it, where supposedly PerkStreet's CEO, CTO, and a customer service rep actually commented in my blog. If you search the key word "perkstreet" in my blog, you should be able to find those entries.

Now, whether their perks beat similar rewards credit card programs out there is a different matter. Still, it's nice to have the option for savvy rewards shoppers.

Bottom line, it works, it's a decent program, and based on my own limited experiences, I can recommend it without reservation.

So, why do use it though? I've read your posts (though not your blog - perhaps you should include some links :-). You're clearly savvy. Is it the convenience factor of not having to worry about multiple rewards cards?

Why use it? Good question. Well, back when I first learned about the program, they were also offering $100 cash for opening an account with them, I think $5 for the first credit transaction with their debit card, and another... $150 I think for setting up the direct deposit. And all it asked of me was a little bit of time to get it set up. So, I figured, "Why not?"

I don't really use it as much now though. The bonuses are gone, and now it's just down to the 2% rewards, which is also cut back to only the first six months and 1% after that.

Still, as far as I can tell, they are legitimate, and maybe some may prefer their value proposition.
