Once my insurance policy is issued, can the insurance company cancel my contract if I develop medical problems?

Are we talking about life insurance or health insurance? In either case, there could be a pre-existing condition clause. If something serious shows up very shortly after the policy goes into effect, they may investigate to find out if you actually knew about it before taking the policy and purposely didn't reveal it to them. If it is truly a new problem, you'd be fine once they looked into it.

Other than that, I can't think of any reason they could cancel an existing policy.
