I happened upon this forum as I have been searching for some help finding a loan. Unfortunately, I have bad credit and a bank won't help. I'm not in any legal trouble, and I'm generally a good person. I need a loan of $3500 to $4500 now and I have never asked for help before. I have tried everything possible, believe me. I'm just looking for a legit lender, I have tried loans online and have been scammed due to my ignorance and desperation. I have a part time job now and am still looking for a second job. I will be able to pay in monthly installments and hopefully soon be able to pay it back faster. I need to get my life back and having this over my head is making that very hard. Please let me know if there is anyone out there who can help. Thank you very much

So why do you need the loan so bad?
What do you mean you've tried "everything possible"?
    How much do you make?
Why is there such a large gap in the amount you are asking for? Do you not know exactly how much you need?
How much other debt do you have?
What are the other expenses in your budget?
Is this to pay off a collector?

      Can you provide more detail?
Why do you need a loan?
      What is your income?
      What are your other debts?

Chances are, you may not need a loan at all. Lay out a list of all your expenses and incomes. Be as detailed as possible. I'm sure someone here will have a good suggestion for you as to how to cut back something, sell something that you own, increase your income, or some other strategy for you to raise the money that you are currently trying to lend.

Thanks for the advice Brian, I have sold everything I could, I have laid out all possibilities and yes I do need a loan, I know it sounds shady, but its really not, I need to pay back my son so he can finish school, he helped me keep my house, now if he doesn't get this money he has to stop and that's not fair to him. I know he can always go back and all that, but I just need to get this loan so I can do this, again, I know it doesn't sound all that important, but it means the world to me.

There are several sites for people in your position. Prosper.com and lendingclub.com both offer loans to individuals. You should at least check out these sites. Obviously, it's almost always better to avoid debt when possible and pay it down aggressively, but you're asking for help in finding a lender so there you go...

Can your son qualify for a student loan so he can finish school? Then once he finishes school and the loan comes due, you can just write him a check each month for the payment?

I have obviously tried everything, otherwise I wouldn't be here. The bottom line is I need this loan and with less than great credit I can't find one, I was just hoping there would be some advice about that out there. It's just urgent, and unfortunately I have been scammed by lenders and I just need some help for the first time in my life and it's not working.

Well here, at SavingAdvice, we can not provide you money. We are simply an online discussion group. Best wishes!

Slug had good advice about contacting prosper.com! They are legitimate.

With less than perfect credit in today's economy with lending standards being what they are, I would say that you are going to have a very difficult time securing financing from any reputable lender. I would not turn to fly by night institutions or to cash advance businesses. The only options that you have are to have your son quit school for now, or to get extreme and think outside the box to raise capital. Have you cancelled your cable, phone, and internet to save money? Have you cut back to bare minimum food purchases to save money? Have you sold all of your unneeded clothes, jewelry, furniture, tools, and whatever else may be around the house? Have you entertained the idea of picking up a second job, or starting your own business?

If you have already done all those things, you have no savings to tap, and you have no family or friends to help you, then I would say that you are out of options. You may have to tell your son that he needs to stop going to school temporarily so that you can save up money, earn more money, and improve your credit score. He may be angry at you for a time, but reality is what it is.

Your son can take a semester off and work. You can find extra work and help him with what you can. You do not need a loan, you just want a loan.

Your son has helped you, that still does not constitute an emergency for a loan. Explain your situation to him, give him a place to stay for free while he saves money to finish school.

I wonder how many people find this site and think, "I'll see if some poor sap will fall for my story and help me pay my bills..."
