  • Credit Card APR

So I was looking into the APRs offered by different credit cards on Low Interest Cards by Bankrate (not allowed to post links since I am new but it is towards the bottom of the page) and I noticed that they are all around 11% variable. Is this the normal introductory APR?

I currently have a Bank of America Rewards Platinum Plus with an APR of 7.24% on Balance Transfers, 19.24% on Cash Advances and 7.24% on Purchases; all variable. Do they typically give you the introductory then lower it as you've been them longer? Also, does anybody mind telling me what each category is? I pay it monthly in full so I don't get charged any interest but it would be a nice thing to know.

I have been with Bank of America for about 5 years with a student account and have had the credit card since 2007. Also, my credit limit is 5000 and started with about 1000... (I think they really like me). Is this a typical occurrence?

Thank you all for your time! =)

A cash advance is when you take cash out through an atm.
Purchases are things you buy at stores or online and pay for with your credit card.
Balance transfers are when you move money from one credit card to another. So, if you transfered money to this card from another one BOA would charge you 7.24%.

Honestly, I have no idea if this is a normal introductory rate. Bankrate is a reputable site, but there could be better offers elsewhere.

I wouldn't put to much effort into getting a bank to like you...all you have to do is pay your bills on time.
