  • Disputing a Equifax collection?

Hey guys I am trying to make my credit picture perfect. However I have noticed I have 1 collection on my account that only rolled to Equifax luckily.

    Here is what happend

I had a dentist bill that the insurance and I were fighting about. They wanted me to play around 55% of something and I had good insurance. So anyway they paid me some more but then the rest went into collections.

They got a hold of me on the first call (no messages no missed calls ect.) and I paid in full that day. They told me it was 31 days past due and they would have to turn it in. Come to find out they had called on a old number and of course the messages never got to me.

The bad thing is this thing is 3 years old.

Do I have a leg to stand on here?

You should still dispute it and hope the company doesn't turn in the records... then it will delete.

That would be nice, it would be lucky though lol. If they do keep records do I have any luck?

        *Update*

Found out today from Equifaxs website that another company handles my disputes. CrS credit servies I belive is what it was called. Called them and spoke with a very nice lady. I told her my story she found the account that I was talking about after I told her it was the only collection account I had. I explained the story and she said I had legitmate reason to question it and said she would fill the dispute. She said she would let me know in 30 days via mail.

So we shall see, if not I will send them a certified letter.
