If I'm getting a tax refund but I need to amend my return, could I cash the refund?

The amendment is only going to make a small difference. I would like to cash the refund and then pay back the difference when I do the amendment. Does anyone know if this is allowed? Thanks!

Update: I found the answer. You can cash it if anyone is wondering. I would delete this post but I don't see an option to do that.

Yes, that works for the IRS. Cash the check, file an amendment and if you need to send in a check, send it to the correct zip code - there is one for returns and one for returns with check.

I just saw your update - but I am going to post anyway.
