  • AirTran Airways CC or Rewards Club

I'm going to be traveling from Chicago to Atlanta once a month (10 round trips) starting in March. I can get cheap airfare via AirTran and I'm interested in getting the best benefits that they offer as well.

What would you do? Sign up for the AirTran CC w/ no annual fee OR their A+ rewards program?

Here is the link to their rewards program:

I just saw somewhere that we are offering double A+ points to MKE for a while, if that makes any difference to ya... If you sign up for the credit card and make any purchase, I believe you get a free roundtrip...

Can I suggest Delta rewards card? They are currently the worlds largest airline and getting a flight from Chicago to Atlanta should be a breeze. Plus you could use them to go anywhere in the world.

Um, this is the wrong question! You have to have an A+ rewards account in order to earn credits with their CC. So definitely sign up for the rewards program, there is no cost.

If your biggest goal is to earn free travel, A+ may not be the right program/airline for you: their credits expire only 12 months after they are posted to your account- not a lot of time to earn a free trip. However, if you're planning to use them on your flights right away, then you'll probably be okay. But you may want to investigate other airlines with direct flights to Atlanta, including American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Airlines. These companies keep your miles active as long as you have activity in your account at least once every 18 months & fares are often competitive on routes with competition with airlines like Airtran.

If your biggest goal is perks/comfort while traveling (via elite status), then you're probably not taking enough trips. Are you flying anywhere else?
