    Investopedia definition.

    "Commodity" is actually a very broad term that can be used to describe all sorts of things, be it bars of gold to LCD TV panels to bushels of wheat.

      Hi,
      commodity is simply good which is in demand in the market and possesses the following features
      1. It produced and sold by many different companies.
      2. It is uniform in quality the producing and selling companies. No one can tell the difference between one firm product and another.

        In financial terms, it is something tangible. Rther then stock which represents ownership or bonds that are loans, commodities represent tangiable things like oil, corn, gold, copper, etc.
