My wife just got a huge bonus at work. We have implemented a nice budget using the envelope system and are quite happy with it, so maybe this time we will actually act intelligently.

Sorry for bragging about her a bit, but I am very proud of how hard she works and how successful she is in a male dominated field.

Yes, in the past we would have taken the unexpected money and done something stupid like buying a new sports car or jet ski or something...which we would rarely use and would take up yet more space in our cluttered house. Hopefully, the *new* us, partially thanks to reading the experiences and advice of everyone on here, will invest this money wisely and enjoy the fun of watching it grow.

I think we are done with wishing we were rich but never really doing anything about it ("I've tried nothing and I am all out of ideas") but instead to live frugally no matter how little or much we make and get rich slowly.
