I'm 26 and the way things are going I think I'll be lucky to make 30,000 by the time I'm 30. And I'm a college graduate!

Here's a great calculator that could of good help to you all. You just need to enter your current age, average monthly savings and your interest rate. The calculator will show you how much you will have accumulated when you reach age 65, and the national average of 401(k) savings in your age group.

You can find the calculator at Calculate your savings vs. national average

Gulp, here goes (not doing as well as some of you youngsters!):

          My household:
          NT (36)/me (35)/AS (30)
          Gross: $41K/$49K/on unemployment = $90K
          Retirement: $41K/$25K/$4K = $70K
          EF (shared): $5K
          Equity on 2 homes: -$17K/+$144K = +$127K

                  I am 34.

Didn't really want to look at recent statments and figure this out, but finally bit the bullet when my wife opened them and put them on my desk this week.

                        Gross about $125,000
Total savings (retirement and non) about $350,000
                        Home equity about $180,000

                        * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?

I am 28 years old. I have a gross income of ~85k/year. I started saving about 1.5 years ago. My goals are:

                          1) To make 100k/year by the age of 30
                          2) To save 100k by the age of 30

If I achieve 1 of the 2 goals, I will be happy.

Here is what I have saved so far:

                          28y/o, single
                          Savings: 1.5k
                          Roth IRA: 9.5k
                          Investments: 19.5k
                          Total: 30.5k

I do not own a home.

That is a very good idea. You are one of the very few people who actually thinks about savings and makes it a goal.

between short term and long term savings I put away about 30 % of my check a month I earmark specific amount of money for one thing or another.
                            short term
in my EF well over 2500
                            in my car account 10,000
                            in my vacation account 500
all this in CD's and savings

long term all in mutual funds.
Wow that is impressive. You surely understand the meaning of saving money.

                                $3,000 in a CD
                                ~$3,000 in IRAs

I'm not sure how much we earn each year. $12-15,000?
