  • When does dependant health insurance expire

If my son uses his insurance now (in the summer). And doesn't go to college this coming semester is that fraud? I looked through the the booklet I have but there is nothing there on the topic. All it says is that all college/high school students up to age 23 can remain on the insurance (which he was until the the end of classes in May).

He plans to move out after the summer (has a job lined up starting in the fall with insurance).

Make sure you have the latest policy changes. Check with your insurance company. Ours had changed, and I hadn't gotten notified somehow. I only learned of the changes when I called, and then I asked for it to be sent in writing.

For our insurance, the limit used to be age 19 or age 23 if proof of carrying X amount of college units is provided. Now their policy has changed, and it states he is covered until age 23 as long as we provide at least 50% of his support, whether going to college or not.

If it says that all college/high school students up to the age 23 can remain on the insurance, then i dont see any problems in this. Just read all the terms and conditions related to the policy one more time. If nothing of such sort is mentioned there, then it wont be considered as Fraud.
