  • I bought a new couch

I thought about getting a used one on craigs but I was not liking the idea of buying a used couch. (and hassle and they want a lot)
I did buy the floor model at ARt Van and saved over 50% which was a nice compromise.

Nice! A couple of years back I bought a floor model bed at a huge discount. It took me awhile to become comfortable with the idea of buying it, but I figured that A) people don't really lay on it that long B) I won't be sleeping directly on the mattress (I'll have a mattress cover and actual bedsheets). So yeah, I was a poor kid at my first job who was tired of sleeping in a twin bed from his childhood.

This works great. Most of my bedroom furniture were factory showroom pieces that normally sold for (in total) around $4k. I got it all for less than $2k, and it's really good, solid wood furniture. My mattress was a return -- the previous owner returned it within a week because it was (according to the return slip) "too soft". Such a condition is impossible in my view, so I was happy to take it for half the original price.

I bought a pretty nice couch at a yardsale for$150 ten years ago( would have cost four times that if new). Took it home and cleaned the hell out of it and still have it. Of course, I got to see it in person before the purchase.

I am not saying a used couch is totally disgusting but you never know what happened on it ya know. lol lol......
The couch "retailed" (we know retail is just a fake number) for 2Kand sold for 1K. They had it for 600 and I got it for $500. it was missing 2 of 4 throw pillows but I love the couch.

my mom though tI could get a new couch for about $250 but the low end futons cost about that My futon days are over(actually I bought a wood sided futon in college that is in my den now)
