  • Where to sell foreign currency?

I have about $60 worth of a rather obscure European currency (Danish DKK). I was expecting to be going back for work, but that is unlikely now.

I am not an account holder at a major bank. About half is in coins, which most of the online places won't accept.

Can I just go to my local international airport and find a kiosk?

Do it at the airport. They will take notes and coins at a good rate. My airport's Travelex Currency Exchange is near baggage claim, and is convenient and easy to access.

If you live near a university, contact the study abroad office and ask if there are any students going to study in Denmark in the fall. Explain that you have some DKK you'd like to swap for USD, and ask them to send a message to those students to ask if any of them are interested in swapping with you. You can just go by whatever the current exchange rate is on XE.com. You may not get any takers, but it's worth a shot!

EDITED TO ADD: When I found myself in a similar predicament a few years ago (with UK pounds, which is not even as "odd" as Danish DKK), I called around and NO ONE would take coins, including at the airport. About £15-£20 of our £70 was made up of coins, since we had several £5 coins. At the time, the exchange rate was roughly 2:1, so that was $30-$40 we couldn't convert!

          Euro's

My wife 2 50 euro notes and asking me where to exchange it. I thought about banks forex counters at airport. But don't they ask you for an entry in the passport for that money. It was the case in India. You usually have an entry in your passport for any foreign currency you get. What is the process in here?
