We typically spend about $2500 - $3000 yr on vacations. That is enough for hubby, myself, and 2 young kids to do a 1 week long vacation and typically 2 or 3 long weekend short getaway trips. You get a lot more for your money if you book off season too. My DH and I (before kids) got off peak rates in FL when we went in Sept (still nice and warm and without the crowds). If you research where you want to go ahead of time, you can get a lot more for your money. Plus if you are more flexible about what time of the year you are willing to travel you can also get some great deals!

I'm not sure what places are cheaper to get to (Bermuda is not so far)...but that is what we want to start with. I know a lot of cruises stop all over the islands and would be around $3000 for both of us, all inclusive other than alcohol (I don't drink).
I live in WI, so this kind of trip involves long-ish flights. For my wife and I, such a trip generally costs $3000 to $5000 for something from 5 to 10 days. At least it did 5-10 years ago, which is the last time we took such a trip...seek knowledge, not answers
