I also have a Chase card that I've had forever, longer than my other cards. I also keep it open for credit-history reasons. I used it a couple times a year to keep it active, but the problem is it backfired on me last month. I use it so seldom I'm not in the habit of paying it monthly, so I forgot to pay a $25 balance and had to pay a late fee and a small amount of interest. Dammit.

I am actually thinking of shopping for a mortgage in the next year, so I need to be careful. I think my credit is good, but I rarely check the score. Gonna try to do it this weekend.

This is to be expected. After all, which bank wants inactive accounts?

This happened to me as well. I had been keeping it open because it was one of my oldest accounts, but they decided to close it for me.

It sat inactive for 6+ years while I used other cards, including other Chase cards. So this was a pretty sudden decision for them. Normally they practically beg you to use the line, take line extensions, use the convenience checks, etc. And the process for closing an account was a nightmare--I had to fight for 10+ minutes to close an unused account a few years ago.

Just a sign of the changing times...

I got the same notice. Honestly I don't remember the Chase card however it maybe have been one of the cards we have been using to transfer balances when were paying down our debt.

          No big deal

Had the same thing happened to me BUT i am glad cause I was too lazy to write them, get stamp, mail it to them etc.........would not even think of calling on phone to spend 1 hour waiting for someone in India.......For me, this was the best thing CHASE could have done for me........Thank You CHASE.....i stopped using them cause their on line payments sucks...everything time i used my laptop and desktop, i have to go to my email and get activation codes.....very annoying....
