  • Chase Exclusives

I just applied today for Chase Exclusives rewards card. Is anyone else familiar with this card?

My wife and I never carry a balance on our CCs, so we thought it would be a good idea to get some cash back. We went to Chase and the banker helped us apply for the card. Apparently, we receive 3% back for our top 6 spending categories and 1% back on everything else.

Does anyone have any experience with this card? Good? Bad?

    Thanks!

Sounds like the Chase Freedom card. We use the Freedom and have liked it so far. The only catch is there is a $12 limit per month on the bonus 2% for the top 3 spending categories. Maybe the Exclusives doesn't have it?

Here is my understanding of Chase's terms.

The Exclusives program is for cardholders who also have a Chase Checking account. There are various benefits, one of which raises the Freedom card to 5 top categories, rather than the normal 3.

The Freedom Signature card adds benefits such as Concierge service, no preset spending limit, enhanced insurance, etc. It does not report a credit limit, so your FICO may be affected.

The Freedom Plus card is a Signature card that pays the bonus 2% on 6 categories, rather than 3. It also features a $30 annual fee.

It would have been better to do your homework before you applied, but if you suffer remorse, you may be able to convert it to a different type of card.

      ETA:
The Freedom is my go-to card. I have nothing but good to report so far. If you run up against the bonus limit, you may hold multiple Freedom cards.

Found out today there is no limit to triple rewards on the Plus card.

I use the Freedom card for everything except gas (I have a BP card that gives 5% back on all BP purchases). Shopping online through their Rewards Plus program also gives extra cash back from many vendors. My only problem is that I buy my groceries at Meijer, which apparently doesn't qualify as one of their categories for bonus rewards.
