Hi, my new fiance and I are going to open a new checking/savings acct. with a credit union. I still have my old acct. with another credit union which I have had for years and since we cannot add him to that account with that credit union (he has a poor history with them), we will start a new one.
My question though is, should I close my accounts with the old credit union to streamline things or should I keep it all open for the positive history ( credit card, paid off car loan, personal loans, years as a good customer etc.).
We will be looking to buy a house in the next couple of years or so, and I did not want to hurt my credit rating somehow by closing this long standing credit union account. Do I keep it all open, or just keep the credit card open or no need to keep any of it?
Thanks for any help!
