  • Frozen Pension

I am totally unknowledgable about pensions-anyhow, my hubby's employer has frozen all pensions.

    WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Most likely it means they've stopped contributing to his pension. He'll get to keep what's in there, but they won't be adding to it. It's possible they'll be offering something else instead: changing to another plan, increasing matching on a 401k, or they could be just screwing you over. Check with HR.

They are giving us more stock matching in the 401 K-yippee (heavy sarcasm).

Mind if I ask what company?

Increased 401k matching isn't a bad thing. I guess it depends on what you're giving up on the pension.

Hubby doesn't want me to say but it is a major media corporation.
