Why not use the $5000 poker winnings instead of taking out a loan?

          Debt

I created a lot of debt while in college with hospital bills and and bad credit choices. I am paying for the mistakes now. I have settled a lot of my debt for about 50% of the balance and this time next year the only debt I will have will be my students loans. So maybe if you consider settling out until at least 75% of the debt is paid it may boot your credit a notch or so.

Maybe long term this will help your score, but short term, a settlement for less than the full amount of the debt is going to take a chunk out of your credit score.

Bad, as in - misinformation being reported? Or bad, because you did not pay as promised? Sorry to be so forthright, but the answers would require different responses from you.

There are various debt consolidation programs, which gives you a lot of options. You could either select a paid service or go for the many free services available.

                Goodluck!
