At least when I was there, Starbucks employees did not report or pay taxes on ANY tips. I'd be surprised if they do now.

The tips were split up at the end of the week by a supervisor. The total number of hours worked that week was divided into the dollar amount, and everyone got a per hour cut.

Example - $100 dollars total, 100 hours worked = 1 dollar per hour. If you worked 20 hours that week, you got $20 cash.

Of course, that is illegal as all income is supposed to be reported for tax purposes. If employees don't report it and get audited, they could find themselves in a lot of trouble. And if anyone could prove that the company encouraged them to not report that income, Starbucks could also find themselves in trouble.

I didn't drop the name I was simply telling you where I got the information. If this has offended you I am sorry. If I knew how to delete the post I would. I didn't realise that you couldn't have a different opnion without being put down.

Mamaw, I don't think there was a problem with your post. It was just that typically when someone posts about an article, they post the link to the article so we can all read it and discuss it. I know who Mary Hunt is, but I hadn't read the article and didn't go searching to find it either. It is just easier when a link is posted.
