Since rates are relatively low.. Im in the process of consolidating all my student loans into one and locking up a low rate. Does anyone know any good companies or website to do this with?

Be careful when consolidating these loans. Sometimes they tend to give the "better" deal with Adjustable rate loans. These are often NOT the best deal; especially when the rates change daily.Originally posted by YoungBuck View PostSince rates are relatively low.. Even Sallie Mae says that often "consolidation" is not your lowest-cost option.
Repaying your student loans
Look at the interest rates of each individual loan and pull out your calculator when shopping consolidation ; and see if you can get a fixed rate. Interest rates are all over the place right now.

I'm in the same boat, YoungBuck. When I originally took out my private student loans, the interest rates were higher and my credit was worse. I'm thinking about consolidating to a fixed rate seeing as the rates are so low, however, I'm going to wait just a wee bit longer to see if a) the fed lowers the rate again b) I pay off a bit more debt and c) a few credit inquiries are pruned from my credit report. The two agencies that do private student loan consolidation at a fixed rate are Citi Student Loans and Education Finance Partners. I'd wait a bit and let those rates get lower. That's just me, though.
