I'm using TurboTax Home & Business to do my taxes this year, and it's also my first year to be earning money as a sole proprietor (contracting). Does TT already do everything I need to do vis a vis Social Security, or do I need to file something with SS to get credited for my income this year? Not that I expect SS to be more than a drop in my retirement bucket, but I'd hate to see years of 0's averaged in inappropriately when they do go to figure my benefit.

Simple answer = You don't need to do anything other than what you did with Turbo Tax.
Slightly longer answer = Of course, check your "Social Security Statement" when you get it in the mail, to make sure it's correct. My husband & I have both consistently had our self-employment income correctly noted by Social Security.
