    I DID find this on about.com

    -Collection accounts and charge offs remain for 7 years from first serious delinquency or charge off date. (NOT the last date of activity.)

    But how can I get this repaired?? Can I dispute this with the credit bureaus??

      Is the account accurate in your credit report. If the information is correct, there is nothing you can really do to get it removed. Well, you can say that it isn't accurate even if it is and hope that since it's changed so many times that the original company won't have the documentation to prove it...in that case it would be removed, but that is also not being honest...I don't think that is what you should do, but it is an option.

      The best thing that you can do is keep up with your current bills and debts. That will continue to make your credir score rise.

        After reading through info at creditinfo.com -- I found that what is being done is referred to as RE-AGING an acct. And is not legal. Dates have been changed -- activity dates as well. That is not correct or legal either.

          Then it sounds you have a good reason to dispute the entry

            what you need to do is validate each of those tradelines with those collection agencys. doing this will do a few things. it will 1- get rid of those re-sold debts off of your credit report. (once you validadte that debt they will be required to take it off your report if they do not own the debt).. then when and if you get the debt validated (valiadating a debt= they own the debt, they have the legal right to collect the debt, they have the legal right to collect this debt in YOUR state...(not everyone is legal to collect in all 50 states), they should also show you proof that you are indeed responsiable(?) for this debt, this should include all contacts that you may have signed and what-not.. this is validation of a debt. if they do not have this information, and can not/will not supply you with this information then you are talking a different (legal) game...)
            once they have validated the debt for you, and it is yours, and everything is legit, then you need to ask them to pay for deltetion.. which means you pay them, and they delete that bad tradline from your reports... you HAVE TO do all of this IN WRITING... so you have PROOF,, just IN CASE...

            here is a validation letter that you can modify for your needs.

            Your name
            Your Street
            Your city, state - zip code

            Collections
            collectiors address
            zip and whatnot

            January 27, 2005

            Dear Collector,

            I am writing in response to your letter(or your tradeline that is showing on my credit report) dated May 28, 1999 [copy enclosed]. This is the first letter I've received from you on this matter.

            I do not believe that I owe what you say I owe, and I request that you please do the following:

            tell me what this money that you say I owe is for;

            show me how you calculated what you say I owe;

            give me copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe;

            show me that you are licensed in my state, and give me your license number;

            stop contacting me about this or any other matter you have, except to provide me with proof that I owe what you say I owe.

            I demand that you also send a copy of this dispute to the company that you say I owe money to, so that they do not report this on my credit report.

            I further demand that if you have reported me to a credit reporting company, you tell them that I do not agree with this debt.

            Sincerely,

            your signature

            Your Name

            Hope that helped!
