  • How many times can they resubmit a bounced check??

UGGGH -- I had a major snafu a couple of weeks ago in which I was double-charged for a car repair. I eventually got the money back, but not until after my mortgage (OF COURSE) check bounced. It was re-submitted, but, thanks to alllll the overdraft fees that resulted from the original overdraft, bounced again. So my understanding was a check can only be presented twice. Therefore, in order to avoid being 30 days overdue with my mortgage payment, I made another payment. Now TWO payments have cleared my account, because the original was submitted a THIRD time.

I thought there was a limit on how many times this could happen. I've got 10 transactions outstanding and I'm hosed again. But I haven't bounced a check in so long maybe the rules changed? of course, my bank (BofA) is closed today so no help there.

Can anybody help? I just got paid and the whole amount has now been used up -- terrific!

I think you have to put a stop check hold at your bank and they charge a fee I think if they do that they will keep the check when it comes in keeping it from being resubmitted

as far as how many time a check can be deposited I think it is endless at my work we only do it once as it costs us 6 dollars for every bounced check if a check bounces I hold it and call the person myself nothing would stop me from resubmitting it endlessly except the horrible bank charges
