  • US expat working in Nederlands - debt question

    Hi guys,

I'm an expat working in the Nederlands and I was just recently fired. I have a cell phone contract and an 8k euro lawyer bill. My question is what happens if I dont pay these bills and leave? Or what happens if i offer to pay them 5 euro per month. Do they have to accept it?

    Thanks.

I dont think so they will accept it, here you can do one thing you need to know there terms and condition and then plan other things

From one expat to another my understanding is that you may be sued for an unpaid debt that you incurred in another country. However, if that country has a credit bureau, your record, good or bad, is not transferable to American credit bureaus.

This is not to say that a judgment against you from abroad is not enforceable against your assets in the U.S. It may well be. And if it is, the lender will pursue it if the amount is worth it.
