  • rolling over ESOP

I have a stock account from my former employer that has about 2K in it (left this particular company in 2006).

I'd like to roll it into Fidelity with the rest of my retirement funds, but would that be rolled over into a traditional IRA or a Roth? And would this count towards my 2007 contributions?

IF you are able to roll it over, it would roll over into a Traditional IRA account. However, you could switch it over to a Roth once it is rolled over if you'd like, you would just have to pay taxes on it when you do your taxes for 2007. Most likely, with a $2,000 rollover, I would think it would be worth it (depending on your situation of course).

And no, it wouldn't count towards your 2007 contribution.

Someone else will have to speak to whether or not you will be able to roll over your stock options. I'm assuming that you can.
