I could have fainted...we came back from visiting Mom and found the fridge door wide open (obviously, one of us did not close it right when we put away what my sis had bought at the supermarket!!) ....I am afraid of looking at the new electricity bill this month....on top of that, the puppy ((OBVIOUSLY)) found the cheese and the ham...1/2 lb of cheese and 1 lb of ham that were partially eaten/had to be thrown away!...luckily, the pup did not eat the whole thing, or it would have been very sick!!...

Re: fridge door open for about 4 hours!!!
Geeez!... I had the same thing happen to me TODAY! Only it wasn't wide open. Something was in the way so that the door wouldn't shut all the way. So, it was hanging open about an inch for a couple of hours. I was slightly ticked!Originally posted by miclasonI could have fainted...we came back from visiting Mom and found the fridge door wide open (obviously, one of us did not close it right when we put away what my sis had bought at the supermarket!!) ....I am afraid of looking at the new electricity bill this month....on top of that, the puppy ((OBVIOUSLY)) found the cheese and the ham...1/2 lb of cheese and 1 lb of ham that were partially eaten/had to be thrown away!...luckily, the pup did not eat the whole thing, or it would have been very sick!!...

Re: fridge door open for about 4 hours!!!
I posted this in another thread. I just read that you should only open the door to your refrigerator 5 times a day. My DH loves to sit in front of the refrigerator with the door wide open while he thinks about what he wants. It drives me crazy. I know it isn't as bad a accidentally leaving the door open for a few hours, but over the long run, I think this wastes much more energy

Re: fridge door open for about 4 hours!!!
hee hee....I used to do that when I was a little girl, too! and my mom always yelled at me. I am WAY more careful about conserving now. I think one of the things that helped me most when I was young was a book my parents bought me about saving the earth and how to reduce/reuse/recycle and take care of what you have. I can't think of the name of it, but I'm sure there are plenty of books like that for kids.
