I am surprised how many people in my neighborhood leave their lights (porch lights) on at night. Seems like a huge waste of money to me. We live in a very safe neighborhood with lots of street lights. I don't see the point in leaving lights on all night. That's my money saving tip: turn off the lights!

I think a much better lighting system and one that could scare off burglars is sensor lights. It would give you the needed light that you would need to walk around in the area and would also discourage others from entering into the area.

Maybe the neighborhood is safe because your neighbors leave their lights on.

I love the idea of community snacks to munch on at work (although peanuts, while healthy, are extremely high in calories and very fattening). I could eat so many peanuts (or other nuts) in a sitting since I find them addictive. Then you see the calories in 1/4 cup of the things and it's downright scary, lol.

Also, when you do have to eat out, try keeping coupons in your car's glove compartment or plan your dining out around some specials available on certain nights.

Or, order things that you can take part of it home for another meal if you are at a restaurant that does that.

I finally got my roommate to see it my way and, after doing this for one month, we were able to cut our electricity bill by $17. I'm proud of that.

Everytime that we go out for the day, I turn my thermostat all the way up. It does help with the electricity bill. Usually, the house will stay pretty cool because no one is there sucking up the oxygen and producing body heat. It takes us less than 20 minutes to get the house to a comfortable level when we come in.
