The Gerber plan is complete garbage. It doesn't take much math to see that. The earlier poster is right, those ads play on fears and misrepresent exactly what it is that you get.

If you believe it is important to be able to collect upon the death of a child, the best way is add a rider to your own life insurance policy (which is really what you do need to protect and provide for your children anyway.)
