  • Credit Score question

If I owe a company $1,000, and have the money to pay it off, is it better for building my credit score if I pay it off in regular payments or pay it off all at once or does it really matter?

      Re: Credit Score question

Is this a delinquent debt? Have they reported it as delinquent on your credit report? If so, then I would think it would be best if you paid it off as soon as possible.

If it's not a delinquent debt, and there's no risk that they will report it as delinquent, then you would want to look at your other financial obligations. For example, do you have other debt, and at what interest rate?

We don't really have enough info to answer your question, but I hope that helps some...

It is not delinquent-one of those 12 months no interest debt we have been paying on.

Last year my credit score was 790, hubby's was 750. We got behind on lots in the next 9 months, and now we are all caught up and paying on time. I don't even know what the scores are now, but was just pondering this question.

That's what this site does to me-makes me think about every little thing

If you can afford it, get all 3 of your credit scores and get an inkling of where you are now since you said you fell behind on some of your debts in the past.

If your credit history is relatively short, then I would keep paying the bill.
