Being the Princess of your Kingdom, perhaps you've forgotten that we male drones do not wield the same royal powers that you do.

It certainly isn't any fun sleeping on the couch.

Re: The Wrong Personality for Budgeting!

        My Result is:
        Fun: 5
        Projects: 13
        Others: 7
        Tomorrow: 14

I really had no idea how my score would have resulted as I gone through tremendous changes in the last few years and my perspective of finances have also changes but not all of the physical actives to support my perspectives have totally adjusted to my new ways yet. My ideas are good but my actions are currently in "becoming proficient" status.

I am not surprise with my project score being high as I need to have a structured foundation to my day to day living or I do not function well. Part of it is from being deaf and not really involved in the deaf community, I get more enjoyment from doing things rather than hanging out with the chatters crowd. (This site is an exception as I understand every word is being said here smile! I LOVE the internet age)

          Fun: 6
          Projects: 8
          Others: 6
          Tomorrow: 15

I would say those scores pretty much reflect my "budgeting personality"

              fun: 3

              others: 9
              Tomorrow: 14

lol... mostly my money is for tomorrow.. fun and projects seems to be in line... we don't spend a lot of money on them... others is more of an ideal than a practice... sometimes it's difficult to tread the fine line between helping and enabling... i do like making people happy though =)...

Okay Bookie let's see those scores!

I think my 'fun' score would go way up as well as my 'others' scores if I was certain that my tomorrow's were more adequately covered. Looking Hubster's retirement right in the face w/little savings (pension evaporated) makes my tomorrow score jump higher than I think it might be for someone else in my age range not married to someone 13 years older.

                What sayest thou Budgetman??

How much do current scary circumstances weigh in skewing the scores?

                  fun 0

                    The Wrong Personality for Budgeting!

“I have the wrong personality for budgeting” explained the lady I met in Burger King.

This common statement is not a “cop out”. It actually turns out to be the key to understanding why budgeting is so difficult for many people.

You see... We are all different. No one thinks twice when the person sitting next to them at the restaurant chooses different meals. In fact you’d probably walk out of a restaurant that had only one item on the menu. Yet when it comes to money, we’ve expected people to budget in exactly the same way.

This is great news if you or someone you know has had difficulties budgeting in the past.

Let’s take a moment to think of some of the people you know…

Do you know some people who find handling money “easy” and other people who have to “work hard” or the money just slips away from them?

Surprise, surprise, each of us sees money differently. We have a unique financial personality that has preferences for how we do things.

Which brings us to the big question…?

Can the different “Financial Personalities” be identified?

After 15 years plus of researching this area I’d like to suggest that we can discover a lot about our financial personality by looking at what empowers us.

                    Money for Fun
people are empowered by being able to use their money to bring fun and life to themselves and the people around them.

                    Money for Projects
people are empowered when they are using their money for something to do or plan.

Money for Others people are empowered when they use their money to help.

                    Money for Tomorrow
people are empowered by being able to save and plan for tomorrow.[/list]
Each of us has a unique mix of these four main types. The mystery of why traditional budgets work for some people and not others is solved. So too is the mystery about why fighting over money is the second highest reason given for divorce.

Put simply, trying to budget in a way that doesn’t suit is as sensible as trying to wear clothes that are too small. It’s uncomfortable, doesn’t last and causes friction.

This brings us to the FREE Personality Budgeting Quiz at www.PersonalityBudgeting.com . The quiz was developed especially to allow people to discover the strengths of their “Financial Personalities”. You and your friends are welcome to give it a go. Have you had instances where you’ve come across people with different “Financial Personalities” to you?

This is one of the exciting breakthroughs of personality budgeting. You don't have to convince a "Money For Fun Person" that they need to save. The key is to give them a way of budgeting that let's them save automatically.

Traditionally people who are heavily "Money for Fun" don't run a detailed budget. "Money for Fun People" are not empowered by seeing that they will have x amount saved in 5 years. To them numbers are not the beautiful things that they are to "Money for Tomorrow People".

A budget that works week in week out for a "Money for Fun Person" is a budget that automatically organises their bills and savings, then lets the person know what is available for their Day-To-Day living.

Re: The Wrong Personality for Budgeting!

I am a strong believer that your life circumstances and health can contribute to your personality and it can change over time.

I had the mentality prior to budgeting that I would never be able to afford a home ever. "Fun things" would make up for not being able to afford a home. This is mostly true because I make a modest income and live in the San Francisco Bay Area (I chose to sacrifice a home than to move elsewhere at this time) where homes are at unbelievable price. With that mentality, I bought a Brand new truck (Stupid Mistake -but sold it luckily for the whole loan amount due to someone else that had the same mentality) and went out with friends a lot and spending a lot of "fun money". (Being single and no children had a lot to do with it)

After seeing this site, everything changed for me with budget planning. I still will never afford a home but at least I am secure and with plans of retirement and financial freedom.

I am currently dating a gentleman and know he is the "one". When the right time happens and do marry, I can help him with financial knowledge and he has a home that needs repairs and I hope to contribute by helping him organize money so his goals can be achieved(he admits he hates budgeting and told me he would love to have me help!smile)

People need hope if they want something big and it helps if they can see a goal written or visualized in realistic methods.

I think I have the highest fun score mentioned. Ieas
                          9fun
                          8 projects
                          9 others
                          9 tomorrow

I do not know what that says about me. I do track every penny so I know where each one goes. (to within a 1.00 a month) However, I am willing to admit that my entertainment bubdget including eating out is high. I have been struggling with the idea that it is too high but I am not sure where to make the changes.

It's exciting to see how your scores are all grouped together. This means that you are strong in all the four areas.(Including Money for Tomorrow)

This result is borne out in your comment where you show an understanding of your entertainment budget and how to deal with it. If you were strong in just one area you would not be able to see this so easily.

An interesting observation is that there is a relationship between people with a strong "Money for Tomorrow" personality and those that have a high number of postings at this site.

That's exactly what you'd expect. People who are interested in budgeting would be regular 'posters'. People who had other personality types would visit , get the information and go. They would not have the interest and passion to keep returning and learning more.
