  • Does anyone actually LIKE their credit card?

Obviously they have their uses, but can you like your card?

I'm sure some do (especially the ones with cards that give back) but currently, it's just an extra layer of hassle to me right now.

I love my credit card. I pay it off each month, so i pay no interest, plus they pay me back for using it. This summer, i got $550 dollars back. Right now, I have about $50 coming to me.

I like mine quite a bit. It's a Hilton Hhonors AMEX with no annual fee, and a very generous reward return. I've gotten countless free room nights and other perks like Disney park tickets. Plus, if you spend over a certain amount in a year you're automatically upgraded to Hhonors Gold status, which gets you upgraded to the concierge floor at Hiltons and/or free breakfast, among other perks.

I also use a Disney Visa if we've got a trip coming up. It's...OK.

I don't have anything against mine. I pay them off every month and use them to make a little money. To each their own.

I have american express blue cash, which pays you back once a year. I just started using the GM flexible earning card which will pay you every time you earn $100. My husband charges a lot of house materials to that card and I pay it off every month.

I love my card, since I continually earn money back from things I normally purchase. 5% on gas, groceries, and perscriptions seems like a no brainer and 1% on all other purchases is just frosting on the cake! We will get back around $1000 this year.

I only wish my bank allowed our mortgage payment to be paid with the CC.

I agree greedy. We buy most of our building materials from a building supply store. Sometimes we spend $20,000-$30,000 a month. I wish they would let me charge stuff, but they won't! None of the subs seem to take credit cards. Only home depot and we do spend there too, but not on lumber.

Re: Does anyone actually LIKE their credit card?

Many places don't take CC because they have to pay for the honor of doing so. So you end up paying more for the material. As a sub I know that is why we do not accept CC. Sorry, Ima. Our supplier accepts CC, but we have to pay the fee if we want to charge our huge monthly bill to it, so it really does us no good that way. In the end someone pays somewhere. So as a business we use it where we can, but not where it costs us money to do so.

I like my credit card. 5% back on groceries, gas, and drugstore purchases. 1% back on everything else. Flexibility of not having to carry lots of cash or checks (which it seems nobody takes anymore.)

Re: Does anyone actually LIKE their credit card?

I like my credit cards because they are a convenient tools for managing my cash flow. I like the opportunity to time-shift disbursements. I also have benefitted from promotional offers that allowed me to use their money at little or no cost.

That being said, I don't trust my credit cards. I've seen how easily they cast their spell over my spending decisions. They reside in my strongbox, not in my wallet, and my decision to use them is made in the cold clarity of my study, and not in the concourse of the local mall.

i have started leaving my credit cards at home too, except on a trip for emergency. Yes, I do understand why the big companies won't take them for large purchases. It cost them 3%. Too bad the companies that do take them, won't give 3% off if you pay cash!

What is the best visa/mastercard for cash backs? I only have discover and they don't get accepted everywhere (as with amex). I am serious about getting a visa/mastercard since I don't have one.
