There are ads on the radio here lately for John Commuta stuff. I'd heard the name previously, but couldn't tell you the context.

No religious overtones whatsoever. It uses ancient Babylon as its setting in order to demonstrate that the principles of money management are as old as merchantile civilization. The tone is light and anecdotal, but the message is memorable. Short (144 pages) and highly recommended.

When I read a book on personal money management, I do not want to read religious stuff. If it bothers you that I even asked I will balance it by asking this:

Does the bok have any references to that sci-fi TV program Babylon 5? (My reason for asking is that I hated that show and would not want to read about it in a book about personal money management.....Heh-heh-heh.

The book was published in 1929/1930. You will find it innocent of all references to television.

The Babylon of the title is the Mesopotamian capital. It's the site of a series of lessons given by a successful merchant on the laws of money, rules for managing one's finances.

Yeah, yeah, I know about Babylon. Fourth grade geography class: The fertile crescent, the cradle of civilization, the hanging gardens, Hammurabi & his code, Nebuchadnezzar.

I was joking about Babylon 5. (But not about the religious overtones.)

I'm impressed by the fact that you could recall about the fertile crescent and everything fromt eh 4th grade. Maybe you're younger than I am, but all I remember from 4th grade is that Shawna Williams got eyeglasses because she squinted (I liked them, so I squinted -- didn't need glases though). And George Tutt poked me with a sharp pencil that was sticing out of his pocket while we did the Do-Si-Do (I hated having to do square dancing for gym class).

I wil mention, however, that I got the only speaking part in the 3rd grade Thanksgiving play because I was the only kid who could pronounce Chekylslovakia - Czeckylslovakia - ?? (I could prnounce it, not spell it! LOL).

GTBDF- HUH - that aint' nuttin'! I got the solo in first grade Christmas play because I had both front teeth missing, singing "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth". :


...and to make this reply financial, do you have any idea of the gold spot price? Thinking of getting the front two capped in commemeration (sp?) of the highlight of my singing career! God bless the poor folks who had to listen to that caterwaling!
