  • Judge Orders 30 Year Old to Move Out of His Parent's House

After notes, advice and gifts of cash went unheeded, two parents turned to the law to make their son leave home

After their notes, advice and gifts of cash went unheeded, two parents turned to the law to move their adult son out of their house.

On Tuesday, a judge sided with Mark and Christina Rotondo, and said their 30-year-old son needs to leave.

The son, Michael Rotondo, had been living in his parents' house for eight years. He called the ruling "outrageous" and said he would appeal the decision.

The Rotondos, who live in Camillus, New York, started leaving notes for their son, Michael, in February.

"After a discussion with your Mother, we have decided that you must leave this house immediately. You have 14 days to vacate. You will not be allowed to return," reads a note dated Feb. 2, according to CBS Philadelphia.

"You are hereby evicted," a Feb. 13 note reads. "You have heretofore been our guest and there is no lease or agreement that gives you any right to stay here without our consent."

A subsequent note offered Michael $1,100 cash as an incentive to move and also encouraged him to get a job. "There are jobs available even for those with a poor work history like you. Get one -- you have to work!" they wrote.

It continued, "If you want help finding a place your Mother has offered to help you."

That offer seems to have gone unheeded, as the couple has since filed a petition with the state supreme court to remove their son from the house.

Michael contended that his parents didn't give him enough time to leave, but a court on Tuesday sided with the couple and evicted Michael.

While few millennials may ever face legal action by their parents, Michael's housing situation is far from unique. A record number of young Americans live with their parents, according to a recent report from Trulia, while Americans overall are moving at historically low rates.

I used to have a friend who was like that. He did have smaller jobs, but nothing good enough to live on his own. Eventually, they remodeled his room since it was on one side of the house to have its own entry and drive. They just let him make an apartment. He was that way through his mid-thirties. I would see his parents from time to time around town (small town), and they would request prayer he would leave. I think he finally did. lol
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

it is a shame these parents had to go to the expense of going to court. Instead of being super embarrassed by this making news this "man child" continues to whine about having enough time and not being Ready to leave.

I do not know what these reports aim to point out?
There are too many scenarios to make any assessment about Millennials etc.
For every slacker like this there are kids with many different situations.
including areas where housing is unrealistically high or even reverse situations where kids help parents by sharing expenses for many reasons.

So this idiot sues his parents because they stopped feeding him, and they sue him to get him out. His excuses is that he was being a father to a child that he doesn't have visitation rights to, and it is Best Buy's fault for making him work on Sundays so he sues them. I can't decide if there is some sort of mental deformity or if he is just a waste of skin.

I would have burned his things a long time ago if I was his mother, and if some how I managed to raise a complete waste of space.
