Technology is changing so fast. How do you feel about ridding yourself of old technology before it morphs into something like oldy time floppy discs or VCRs that even Thrift stores don't take any more? Would you consider selling or donating the stuff you no longer use?

Are you still paying outrageous fees for cable? Do you still have an old PC, film camera, VCR etc? Can you help your parents by taking their old, unused technology to the electronic recycle/disposal system in your community?

Funny you say that I just converted some cassette tapes over the mp3s which is good because they were mostly out of print audio books.

I suggested it to my mother and I will be probably help her do that soon.

I'm also looking at digitizing DVDs as we have many but we don't watch them all.

Recently I thought about the speed at which things become obsolete. No more than 10, 20 years in most cases. Heck, a computer is considered obsolete in a year or two! Technology is advancing quickly, and it really makes me stop and think what is worth buying?

Probably not DVDs.. But probably a computer.
Probably not the newest smartphone... But probably an old one.

Locally, Half Price Books buys old storage tech like videos, cassettes, et cetera you don't get much but they also recycle anything they don't want and you don't want back. Then there is a tech recycle place in the People's Republic of Fremont that takes most old tech as long as it is computer related and last but not least there is a place that will take the rest for recycling for a fee.
