I can't say that we each know everything but it isn't out of deceit or lying. It is really out of trust and shared planning. I don't need to know how much my wife spent for a new pair of jeans because I know that she's frugal and there's no way in hell she'd ever pay $75 or $100 or more like a lot of people do. She hesitates to spend $40. Tonight I had to talk her into "splurging" on a $3.50 cappuccino. And she knows that I hardly ever spend money on myself so she has no need to worry that I'm out blowing the mortgage payment.

It is really all about trust.
