  • Airlines Nickel and Diming to Profitability

Airlines used to let you check two bags, board in the order you checked in, and give you free peanuts in flight. Then the fare wars started, and airlines put themselves in the poor house. Finally, some airline stopped the peanuts and saved like $4 million. Hey! We're on to something. So then they started charging for boarding early. Cha-Ching! goes the cash machine again.

Now, they charge you for baggage, oversized baggage... soon, they'll just make you stand up the whole way unless you pay a fee.

    Airlines collect record fees.

I'll be traveling to the US, and while there to OK and VA. We've already found that everywhere we go, they want to charge $25 per bag. We're not paying it. Instead, we're going to bring carry-ons, sit in bad seats, and use frequent flyer miles. I used to love flying. Now, I see it as a bunch of con artists trying to get into my wallet.
