I already got the winning ticket so don't waste your money.
Can you imagine winning half a billion dollars, though? I think the cash payout is over $300 million.
I love when they talk to people on the news and ask what they'd do if they won and they say they'd buy a new house, a new car, go on vacation, etc. They list spending that might suck up half a million, maybe a million tops. Most of us, myself included, can barely fathom having that much money at our disposal. Just park 300 million in a bank earning 1% and you'd get a check every year for 3 million in interest. That alone is more than most people will earn in their lifetime.Steve

DH & I were discussing what to do when we win. We have never had a fight about money & currently combine our finances. When we win, we will split our winnings between us to avoid fighting about what to do with the money. Funny, but I could see having that much money would cause us to argue about money.

How to spend a $500 million Powerball jackpot - MarketWatch
The private island (with accompanying private jet and/or helicopter) sounds like a pretty decent idea...
But seriously, I don't even have a concept of how much money that is... $300,000,000.00 -- look at all those zeros!!!

I was reading something today about lotto winners that went bust not long after the jackpot. I think I would hire a security detail for us and we'd go traveling for a year or two with only our close family with a way to contact us. Not so much for the luxury but the security and avoiding the nuisance of people wanting money.
I also might move quickly and take up residence in one of the few states that allow a prize to be claimed anonymously.
