Should Social Security be taxed?- MSN Money

SS should be abolished(phased out), but at the very least, it should not be taxed. A proper free country would not have the rediculous tax system we have today.

Absolutely not! Social Security payments are made in after tax dollars, so in a sense have already been taxed once. Our country is taxing us to death. An while the OP would like to see SS abolished, I wouldn't. I became diabled over 10 years ago and have been living off of SS for many years now. Up to that point I had been supporting myself since I was 17 but never had enough to stockpile loads of money towards retirement. If I didn't have SS which I paid into, I would be on Welfare or living under a bridge.
