"Americans saved $3.7 billion"
I really question this number. Did people really save that much? Would they have saved even more if they hadn't used the coupons?
Coupons are almost exclusively for more expensive brand name items. Most times, the store brand version is cheaper even after the coupon discount. And how many times have people bought something they could have done without just because they had a coupon. Restaurant coupons are a perfect example. Have you ever gone out to eat just to use a coupon? I know we have. We rationalize going out by trimming the cost with the coupon. Yes, we may save $10 with the coupon but we would save $30 if we stayed home.
Call me cynical....Steve
* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.
